MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Congressman Tom Rice visited constituents and businesses in all eight counties of South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District on his Re-elect Rice Kickoff Tour on Monday.
The events of the day highlighted how each county is home to constituents and businesses with differing histories, challenges, success stories, and accomplishments.
“In 2012 I launched my very first run for Congress with a visit to all eight counties, and today, I’m taking everyone back to where it all began. This time around though, these places look much different. During my time in office, I’ve helped put in place regulatory, trade, and tax reform that juiced the economy and affected even the poor, rural parts of our District in big ways.”
“Today I visited areas like downtown Marion and downtown Florence that have been revitalized because of economic growth as a result of pro-growth and pro-business policies. I’ve talked with business owners who have recovered from our many natural disasters and worked hard to keep employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. I toured companies that experience continued success because of the trade policies put in place to leverage American competitiveness. I visited the Inland Port Dillon, which created nearly 2,000 new jobs and cut unemployment rates in its surrounding areas. I stopped by Marlboro County, where our farmers and the agriculture industry are the backbone of the local economy. I’ve talked with folks about everything from beachfront renourishment to historic tax credits. All day long, I’ve been proud to show how the policies I worked to put in place and the direct actions I’ve taken as your Congressman have uplifted the people of South Carolina’s 7th District. And we’re not stopping now.”
The Congressman’s day consisted of visits to the following places in the 7th District:
- Breakfast at Applewood House of Pancakes in Georgetown County
- Wee R Sweetz Factory Tour in Horry County
- Visit to Hotel Florence and Lunch at the Rotary Club of Florence in Florence County
- Employee Meeting and Tour at Fiber Industries in Darlington County
- Tour of CM Tucker Lumber in Chesterfield County
- Visit to downtown Bennettsville in Marlboro County
- Visit to the Inland Port Dillon in Dillon County
- Dessert at Gerald’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor in Marion County
As the proud voice for the 7th District in Washington, Tom Rice has dedicated his years in Congress to listening to the varying concerns of his district and delivering honest, effective, leadership.
